1 month anniversary!

It seems like such an insignificant amount of time to be celebrating...but I am anyway.

In 30 days we have...got married, had a big party, traveled to another country, unpacked our things, combined two households, hubby had surgery, went on a mini camp out with the kids, flew a kite, and wanted to sleep ALOT.

It has been a great 30 days!

(technical note: I tried to post this yesterday but it just wouldn't work)

Time flies whether you participate or not

Seems like time has just flown by lately. Lots of people would agree right after a wedding. So much to do, errands to run, plans to make. And then there is a lovely trip...but you come home to laundry and moving boxes, which unlike other times, it is fun to do because you get to do it together.

Anyway, I hope to get caught up before the holidays. Because time speeds up then too, Santa must do that. :)

Agree to Disagree

I have a problem.

There is a co-worker whom I call wolfie (the big bad wolfie). He is very opinionated, which in a business setting could be of great benefit as decisions can be made. However, if by chance your opinion (or even set of facts) don't jive with his there is alot of house blowing.

How do I handle his overbearing, in your face antics without being angry or yelling or hateful? Cuz everything I've come up with includes all of that.

Thanks for the advice...

Starbucks

Have you ever noticed how over the top perky the Starbucks baristas are?

Do you want sugar or cream with that? How about the crack I had?

My brother and I ran through a Starbucks drive thru on the way to the airport and the lady at the window was speaking at the speed of sound. Asking us about our day, where we were going, etc. My brother said in all his tact, "We need coffee before we can talk to you."

A wonderful good morning. Poor girl.

Teachers

I got my son's report card a few days ago and noticed in the absence column, he'd been absent from P.E. 4 times. He was sick one day...so what happened the other three days?

I called the school and found out that the P.E./Health teacher was out for a few days, but they'd leave him a message. He called me back today. He said that he wasn't sure if Austin was there or not. WHAT?!? I say? He said he was 'anal' about how he started and ended class, but in the middle he wanted to be 'open-minded'. However I don't think it was going well for him, cuz he said he had to pull the reigns in (when I was 11 that would have meant...we could get away with murder!). He said he tried to establish a protocol about roll taking and class rules, and that he was still learning the kids names (they've been in school 7 weeks!)

So say a prayer for Austin. That he goes to class (which after speaking to the teacher I am sure he does) and that hopefully he will learn something.

So glad my tax money is well spent. :)

Fast Forward

Remember VHS tapes? When you wanted to jump ahead in a movie you actually had to watch the part you were trying to skip...just in fast forward. I tried so hard for the last week of my life to NOT be in fast forward. Several times I found myself stopping, pressing pause, and trying to soak it all in. Enjoying the sights, sounds, smells, and faces of the people I love.

My sweet hubby (I love saying that) and I sat at our reception dinner and looked at the room full of people and were overcome. We wanted to jump up and see what everyone needed...more food, drinks...but our sweet friend told us...you are the reason they are here. Sit down and enjoy yourselves...be the bride and the groom. Finally after all the running around we stopped. We were so thankful that the people that mean the most to us, came to celebrate...well...US.

I found myself trying to thank those who did things for us, traveled a long distance, or just said something nice to us...and thank you isn't enough. I can promise, though, that we won't forget that moment.

Today all is well with the world. And I AM a married lady.
