Standard Transmission

When I was 15-16 I took a driver's education course at the high school I attended. After completing the textbook portion of the class we were on to the actual driving portion. I was fortunate enough to drive a standard transmission '89 Ford Escort. Thankfully it had heat, a/c, and power steering. Anyway the hardest thing to learn was where that sweet spot was...where the car would take off from a dead stop and not sputter or die.

It seems in life I can't seem to find that sweet spot. I keep jerking back and forth between sweet bliss and total panic, trying my best to give life gas or more clutch to smooth things out, only to find a stop sign just up ahead. Then I start the whole thing over again.

In my defense I will say I am proud of how well I have handled some big life changes. Getting married, hubby's several surgeries, kid challenges, a few health scares of my own and now some bad news today. Not just your run of the mill bad news but big bad news. I guess all of this to say...I am hoping to get out of the problematic first gear and move on to third or something...not too fast, not too slow...and a whole lot less jerky.

Great analogy. I can relate. Hope things go more smoothly for you.

On to a nice, cruising 4th gear! Or 5th!
