Raccoon Bridesmaid

Yesterday, I felt icky. Got a bit of a cold...which I am fighting nicely. I stayed home from work to rest up.

My friend from California is staying with me this week. She came home a week ago to visit her grandparents and it was cheaper to change her ticket than to fly her back and forth again...so YEAH for me she is here for a whole week. Because I was puny she agreed to run errands for me. When she came back she parked her rental car on my steep driveway. She fumbled in the truck for her purchases and the trunk lid fell on her nose!

So we went to the ER...and thankfull she didn't break her nose, but it is sore and a bit blue. She cried and said I was going to have a raccoon for a bridesmaid. Her grandmother had a few other 'colorful' comments which I will not share. I say...thank goodness for makeup.

Suits and ties OH MY!

So for the wedding I told my son he had to wear a suit. As one would expect it was met with moans and groans. We brave the mall in search for a not-kid-looking, not adult-sized, black boys suit. To my suprise he emerges from the dressing room with a smile. He looks in the mirror and exclaims 'I look good!', and 'It is more comfortable than I thought.' Go figure!

Planning is going well. 11 days to go!

I love to get mail!

I am so excited to see a letter amongst the bills in the mailbox. A letter lets me know that the sender cared enough to find paper, my address, and a stamp to send me a message.

I am getting lots of mail lately. It makes me very happy, even if I bought the envelopes, printed the card, addressed and stamped the return evelope.

The backwards 'H'

I decided it would be a nice touch to our wedding invitations to close them with a wax seal.

So rather than buying a 'B' for my last name, I decided to be forward thinking and buy an 'H'. I also bought the non-glue gun wax. The kind that you heat up with a flame and let drip on the envelope. Very crafty...huh?

So we sit down and get the invitiations addressed, stuffed, and ready for waxing. And in my infinite wisdom we do a test wax. I look at the impression...and the H is backwards. So I try it again, as if it would change, and it is still backwards. I read online and find out that in old times, when people sealed their letters with wax and a signet ring, the images were reversed because the ring was meant to be looked at...um...well not backwards.

The history of this is great. But I think people would look at the 'H' and say...it's backwards! So we went back to the store...and all of the 'H's' are backwards (or right ways...but will stamp backwards). As a side note, the 'B's' were right, go figure.

Never a dull moment!
